Fred Singer - Anystream President and CEO
Fred Singer is an internet pioneer and part of a small class of successful executives who have played roles in shaping the first and second phases of the Internet revolution. He has had an uncanny ability to be at the vortex of the big innovation waves playing a broad set of roles ranging from CEO, executive, entrepreneur, advisor, board member and investor.
Mr. Singer has not been afraid to go against prevailing wisdom. He jumped into online media and advertising as it was just emerging in the early 1990's, tapped into the hyper-growth of narrowband online services with America Online and decided to reinvest during the Internet crash by focusing on opportunities created by the early launch of broadband networks in Japan and China. Today he is invested in Internet video, behavioral advertising, content creation and social communities.
Mr. Singer has worked with Softbank Corporation since 2003 as a Senior Advisor to Masayoshi Son, President and CEO of Softbank Corporation in Japan. His role has allowed him to work with many of the worldwide top leaders in the media and Internet industry including Yahoo, AOL, Comcast, DoubleClick and News Corp to name a few. He has also remained active in the U.S. and Asian technology markets as a Venture Partner at Softbank Capital Partners helping many of their portfolio companies scale their operations.
Previously, Mr. Singer worked in a variety of leading operating roles as a Senior Vice President at America Online where his primary focus was on turnarounds and content companies. During his six year tenure at AOL, some of his roles included COO, AOL Studios/Interactive Services (Content), COO, ICQ (Instant Messaging) and SVP of emerging products. He started his career with the Washington Post Company in 1992 where he was a founder of the Washington Post Online Service (now WashingtonPost.com). He was also formerly a Strategy Consultant at Bain & Company in Boston.
Mr. Singer is currently serving on the boards of DoubleClick, Motley Fool Company, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (International Committee), Queens School of Business, and Upper Canada College. He has also been active with Sunderam TagoreArt Gallery in New York City and Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. where he has funded pioneering work on Autism Spectrum Disorders. He has an MBA from Harvard and a LLB, MA Philosophy, BA Philosophy with Distinction and B. Commerce with Honours from Queen's University in Canada.
Geoff Allen - Anystream Chairman and Founder
Geoff Allen has over 15 years experience in high-technology sales and marketing, product development and business operations. Prior to founding Anystream, Allen was the general manager of Enterprise Solutions for the Anystream development group at Integrated Computing Engines, Inc. He has an extensive background in Internet cutting-edge video applications, previously serving as chief technology officer of iXL's Washington D.C. office. He founded and served as president and chief executive officer of Axicom, a developer of digital video advertising insertion systems, and Source Digital, a systems integrator focused on digital video production systems.
Allen is a member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO). He is a former member of the Young Entrepreneur's Organization where he served as the vice president of technology for its International Board. Allen attended George Mason University's computer science program and the Birthing of Giants Entrepreneurial Management Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Wayne Weisman - Partner, SCP Private Equity, Anystream Executive Chairman
Wayne Weisman has been a partner of SCP since its inception and his experience in private equity and venture capital investing dates to 1987. He joined Churchill Investment Partners, Inc. as a managing director in 1990, and became Vice President and a member of the board of directors of CIP Capital at its founding. From 1992 to 1994 he served as Executive Vice President of Affinity Biotech, Inc. where he had responsibility for strategic alliances, financial strategy, and mergers and acquisitions and oversaw its IPO and merger into the company that became IBAH, Inc. From 1987 to 1990, Wayne operated a management and financial advisory firm. Wayne began his career at the Philadelphia law firm of Saul, Ewing, Remick & Saul. He is a director or chairman of several companies, including CinemaStar, Inc., Gigared S.A., Anystream, Inc. and Deep Breeze, Ltd, and he was until recently a director of Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He also serves on the investment committee of Vitalife Life Sciences Fund. Wayne received his B.A. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
Steven J. Murray - Partner, SOFTBANK Capital
Steve Murray joined SOFTBANK Capital in 1997 and has over 14 years of experience in managing investments, mergers and acquisitions, finance and accounting for growth orientated technology companies. In addition to his investment sourcing, evaluating and management responsibilities within SB Capital, he is also the CFO for the SOFTBANK group that manages substantially all of SOFTBANK's global activities outside of Japan. This role has allowed Murray to develop long-standing and valuable relationships within SOFTBANK's management and operations that assists in facilitating deal sourcing from Asia as well as unique due diligence for potential investments.
Murray has been the principal executive responsible for several billion dollars of complex structured transactions and monetization strategies to maximize investment value during his tenure at SOFTBANK. These transactions have included structured loans, initial and secondary public offerings, mergers, private asset and stock sales, public market block stock sales, and long-term collars. He started his career in the Audit Department of Deloitte & Touche where he worked with some of the firm's most prestigious and acquisitive clients including KKR, Primark and Harcourt General.
Murray serves on the boards of several private companies, including Webhire, National Leisure Group, Viacore, BERJ, and Anystream. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BS in Accounting from Boston College.
Gregga Baxter - Head of Private Equity, Falcon Private Equity
Gregga Baxter has been with Falcon Private Equity for over 20 years and was a founding member of the firm's investment banking practice in London. Baxter has been involved as an investor with Affiliated Computer Services (NYSE:ACS); Dataplex (acquired); AdvaCare Inc. (IPO and subsequently acquired); Tidel Engineering Inc (Nasdaq: ATMS); Graham Engineering (recapitalization and subsequently acquired); and Peter Piper Pizza (acquired). Baxter represents the firm on the boards of eMotion, Inc., Visual Insights, Inc. and White Rock Networks.
He is also a director of ProVen Private Equity. Baxter started his career in finance at JP Morgan. He holds a B.A. Hons and MA in Modern History from Oxford University.
John W. Poduska, Sr. - Anystream Director
Dr. Poduska is an independent business consultant. From January 1992 until December 2001, he served as chairman of Advanced Visual Systems, Inc., a provider of visualization software and solutions. Before 1992, Dr. Poduska was president and chief executive officer of Stardent Computer, Inc, a computer manufacturer, from December 1989 to December 1991. From December 1985 to December 1989, Dr. Poduska was founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Stellar Computer, Inc., a computer manufacturer and the predecessor of Stardent Computer, Inc. Dr. Poduska is a director of Novell, Inc. and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.
Poduska holds a Sc.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Lowell University. His awards include the McDowell Award of the IEEE "for continued creative contributions to hardware and software development and for management expertise in bringing them to products"; and the MIT Corporate Leadership and Distinguished Industrial Achievement Awards. Poduska was also chosen as Arthur Young Venture Magazine's Master Entrepreneur in High Technology and was inducted into the Institute of Entrepreneurs, both in 1987. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and of several boards including the Boston Ballet, Wang Center and the Boston Lyric Opera.
He is a trustee of Lahey Clinic and Bentley College.
Poduska also serves on the board of directors of Safeguard Scientifics, Anadarko Petroleum, XL Vision and Emerge Interactive.
